North Mankato Minnesota Food
North Mankato wants to pass a food truck ordinance aimed at protecting the city's brick-and-mortar restaurants, but the city council is split on the details. North Manksato City Council members are struggling to reach agreement on how food trucks should be regulated while they pass a regulation they say is designed to protect the stationary restaurant. The proposed code would prohibit food trucks from parking outside the Circle Inn and other stores and other restaurants. Harrenstein said the ordinance prohibits the county and any other business from having a food truck if it is too close to an existing restaurant, according to the written ordinance.
Dehen said he thinks that business owners who have special events want to bring a food truck should be allowed to bring it, but not at the expense of their brick-and-mortar business.
